Banquet Update

Hello Team-

The banquet is less than one week away!  Please send in your RSVPs to Janet as soon as possible to insure an accurate count for the caterer.  It helps keep our costs down while providing the right amount of food for everyone.

Set up is planned for next Saturday at 1pm in the cafeteria.  Please consider volunteering even an hour of your time-it is a large job which can easily be accomplished with our wonderful volunteers.

There are other volunteer opportunities for the evening. Please consider helping in any of these areas:

  • Provide ice in coolers:  2 needed
  • Monitor our drink station:  2 needed
  • Serve and refresh buffet lines:  4-6 needed
  • Cut and serve cake:  2 needed
  • Check in table: 2 needed

Please email Janet at Erdman004@aol.com if you are willing to help out in any of these areas.  Looking forward to seeing everyone next Saturday night as we celebrate a terrific Trojan Cross Country season!

Hello Team-

As we head into the heart of our season, we are beginning to organize some team dinners.  For those athletes going to the Jesse Owens meet, the Ainslies have graciously offered to host a pasta dinner next Thursday, September 29th.  Prior to the Cobb County Championship, the Chaneys will be hosting a dinner for the entire team at their home on Friday, October 7th.  An additional dinner for the entire team is being planned for Friday, October 28th prior to the Region Championship.  As we get closer to the State meet, the Gutierrez family has expressed interest in hosting a dinner for those who qualify.

We are looking for a venue for the dinner on Oct 28th.  If you have access to a clubhouse or other location that can accommodate approximately 80 people at a free or reduced cost, please email Linda Ainslie at ainslie13@bellsouth.net  Additional details will be forthcoming as we get closer to each event.  If you have volunteered to assist, watch for emails as well.

It's been a great season so far!  Best of luck to the athletes travelling to Charleston this weekend.  Go Trojans!

Hello Team,

Starting Monday August 8, practice will be at 7:00 PM until further notice.

In addition, we have been asked to send the following information:

Because of the excessive heat, until further notice, the GHSA (Georgia High School Association) is prohibiting outdoor practice activity from 12:00 - 6:00 PM.

GHSA policy

2.67 Practice Policy for Heat and Humidity:
(a) Each member school shall have a written policy for conducting practices in all sports during times of extremely high heat and/or humidity that will be signed by each head coach and distributed to all players.

The policy shall include, but is not limited to:
(1) the time of day the practices are to be scheduled at various heat/humidity levels
(2) the ratio of workout time to time allotted for rest and hydration at various heat/humidity levels
(3) the heat/humidity levels that will result in outdoor practices being terminated
(b) A scientifically-approved instrument that measures the heat index must be utilized at each practice to ensure that the written policy is being followed properly.
(c) Schools may determine the heat/humidity levels using either wet bulb globe temperature readings or heat index readings (Please note: CCSD policy requires a wet bulb reading).
